Transfer

Transfer stations play an important role in the safe and effective collection and transfer of waste.  Once the trash is picked up at curbside, it doesn’t simply go to a landfill. There are many more steps to take before the waste reaches its final destination, but the first stop is the transfer station, which acts as a central collection point for surrounding communities.  Connecting several collection operations through a single location allows communities to share resources efficiently. Transfer stations also help to ensure that the non-hazardous waste we collect gets to where it needs to go—safely.

Collection trucks come in to drop off the waste on the tipping floor. Front loading vehicles, called “bobcats,” work with remarkable precision to drop off, move, sort and transport each day’s waste to a disposal site.

We consider our transfer stations to be a very important link in our waste management network, helping us do our jobs and giving you peace of mind.
