The Operations Associate is a member of a team responsible for daily monitoring and processing of materials, in order to add value to the customer. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor or Territory Manager.

Essential Job Functions/Key Accountabilities

Material and Equipment Operations

  • Will become knowledgeable on material types and program needs/goals
  • Loading and operating various balers for different materials
  • Keeping the work area safe and clear of any debris
  • Loading trailers with Gaylords/Balers/Supersacks that have been weighed and labeled with the proper descriptions
  • Forklift Operations
  • Other equipment operations - dependent on site (e.g., grinding, etc.)
  • Retrieve scrap material from assigned collection points (Plastics/cardboard/trash)

Materials Tracking and Communication

  • Self-Organization skills with understanding prioritization for efficiency and customer needs
  • Present opportunities for program improvement
  • Generating packing lists and bills of lading for each outbound load
  • Documenting weights for each item loaded on trailers
  • Tracking and reporting materials contamination
  • Communicate any challenges to supervisor

Health and Safety

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Maintain compliance with all site and regulatory policies and procedures
  • Meet all safety training and PPE requirements as mandated by customer and Casella
  • Report any/all incidents or near misses to supervisor

Position Qualifications

Skills & Knowledge

Required

  • Good organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal communication

Preferred

  • Customer interaction
  • Lock out Tag Out Procedures
  • Equipment operation skills (forklift, box truck, grinder preferred)

Experience

Required

  • Success working on a team (sports, work, etc.)

Preferred

  • Worked in a fast-paced environment
  • 6 months - 1 year industrial operations
  • Minimum 6 months – 1 year equipment operations
  • Worked in a mature safety culture
  • GMP training
  • LEAN Manufacturing
  • Continuous Improvement

Education

Preferred

  • High school graduate of equivalent

Other Requirements

  • Lifting 30 lbs. frequently – 65 lbs. several times / day
  • Standing for up to 8 hrs/day
  • Getting on and off equipment
  • Access to reliable transportation
