Investing in Recycling
Casella’s recycling facility in Charlestown is one of the largest in the country. Following a complete retrofit in 2023, the operation can now process up to 240,000 tons per year. New technology includes optical sorters, AI, and robotics, enabling us to recycle material more efficiently.
Mattress Recycling
Casella provides mattress recycling solutions for all types of customers, including municipalities, colleges and universities, hotels, mattress retailers, and individuals. Our recycling facilities annually process more than 200,000 mattresses, recovering thousands of tons of material.

Campus Leadership
Phillips Academy Andover is a university preparatory school and a longstanding customer of Casella. Its Climate Action Plan aims for 90% waste diversion by 2030. Together, we have expanded programs to capture compost, e-waste, universal waste, metal, and wood, as well as Green Move Out programs to redirect reusable items to Goodwill.

Service & Community in Massachusetts

Overcoming Language Barriers

Casella is helping to break down language barriers and support employee advancement with a free, on-site English language program at our recycling facility in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Language classes are designed to help operators take and pass their hoisting licensure test, which is offered only in English and is required to operate heavy equipment in the Commonwealth.

Casella Named Hampden County Sheriff’s Office AISS Program Employer of the Year

Casella’s Springfield, Massachusetts, Material Recovery Facility (MRF) was recognized as the Employer of the Year by the Hampden County Sheriff’s Office at their annual All-Inclusive Support Services (AISS) Graduation Ceremony. The award is a testament to the MRF team’s commitment to workforce inclusion, second chances, and community support.

Spreading Holiday Joy

Casella spreads holiday joy throughout our communities each holiday season and this year, we joined the Oxford police officers who had organized a Toys for Tots drive. Our employees delivered a whole toter full of toys for Oxford residents in need and collected food for the Oxford Food Pantry, which provided 218 families with Thanksgiving meals.
