Sustainable Mattress Recycling in Maine
Casella is investing in infrastructure to enable mattress and box spring recycling throughout our region, and we are processing more than 200,000 units per year. We have extended these services into Maine, with an initial goal to recover more than 20,000 mattresses annually from residents, municipalities, and statewide institutions.

Food Waste Recovery
Casella is working to bring new food waste recovery capacity to Maine, with a facility to recycle packaged pre-consumer food waste from grocery stores and other large producers. Developed in collaboration with one of the state’s leading food retailers, this facility will sustainably recover up to 20,000 tons per year of packaged organics.

Fighting Food Insecurity with Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program

Casella volunteers partner with the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program to ensure that no one in the community goes hungry. From re-boxing eggs to preparing warm meals, Casella is proud to support the program’s work to give everyone in the community access to food close to home.


Casella Pulls Together for the Travis Mills Foundation

Each year, Casella employees rally together to haul a 45-ton aircraft at the Travis Mills Foundation Plane Pull in Portland, Maine. The Casella team proudly support this foundation, which directly assists post-9/11 recalibrated veterans and their families.




Sustainable Success in the City of Biddeford

Biddeford has a strong commitment to recycling education. The city has partnered with Casella to enlighten community members through local events, curbside tagging, and regular audits. From Spring 2022 to Fall 2023, the city reduced contamination by as much as 26 percent!
