Welcome to Casella's waste and recycling resources page for Pownal, Maine residents
Casella is excited to extend its partnership with the Town of Pownal and convert its collection to an automated system. This page will provide all necessary information residents will need to understand the changes to the Town’s curbside collection program.
Trash and recycling collection occurs weekly on your service day, Friday.
Here is the holiday schedule for the year after service begins:
- Labor Day: Monday, September 2, 2024: No delay, run as normal.
- Thanksgiving: Thursday, November 28, 2024: One-day Delay (Friday to Saturday)
- Christmas: Wednesday, December 25, 2024: One-day Delay (Friday to Saturday)
- New Years Day: Wednesday, January 1, 2025: One-day Delay (Friday to Saturday)
- Memorial Day: Monday, May 26, 2025: No delay, run as normal.
Please take note of these key dates:

The week of July 15, 2024 – One trash and one recycling cart will be delivered to each residence eligible for curbside collection. (Residents do not need to be home to receive their carts.)

July 26, 2024 – Start of automated collection.
